Special Thanks going out to Achim Faerber for the pics this week of Eisbrecher’s last show of the year in Stuttgart, Germany. Without a doubt, this band is simply the top act in the German Electro Rock scene. They consistently receive rave reviews from critics and fans, & are a huge draw on the live concert scene.
Achim’s credits are extensive, and as I have said before in this blog…he simply is one of the most talented, diverse, and busy players on the music scene. He uses the 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 14 live with Project Pitchfork, Prag, Automat, and Peter Heppner exclusively, and has also used it on five records for these bands in the last two years-(See “Records…” section in this site). To see him using it with Eisbrecher was a great way to end 2015.
Thank You Achim for everything…..
Received several more clips here in an ongoing series from Sam Lumsden of First Class Drums in Scotland. The first is “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch-Brian Setzer Orchestra”. It is one of his favorite Christmas songs, and he brings out the sheet music for his students every year and said…”This drum part never get’s boring…!” The second is Sam covering Billy Cobham-Sorcery. Thanks for using your 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 14 on both of these Sam. Great job as always & Happy Holidays to you and your family…
A very big Thank You to Pat McDonald for his recent statements on his 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14 that he uses live. Pat has long been considered by his peers as one of the absolute finest, and most diversely talented players in music. He has three Beier Snare Drums that he has used live: 1.5 Steel–4 x 15, 5.5 x 14, and the one he uses live these day’s…The 6.5 x 14. Really appreciate your comments Pat, and am always grateful to hear and see that the only snare drums that you carry with you on the road are the 1.5 Steel Series from Beier Drums. Links below to live clips of Pat using the 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14 and 4 x 15 live…. Looking forward to seeing you soon…
“I have been meaning to post this for all my drummer buddies for the last few nights, and finally remembered after the show to do so…..you know how sometimes you have a stretch where something on your kit sounds so good it inspires you? My 6.5 x 14 Beier Snare Drum is sounding SO good in my ears that it just makes me laugh out loud. It is just buttery, silky smooth and has JUST the right pop on top. It’s simply beautiful. Jim Beier makes somes incredible instruments….”

It was so great to see Greg Marsh (Maui Pops Orchestra, Mick Fleetwood Band, Van Ghost) back in the area here laying tracks in Chicago with his 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 14. Greg is a multi-talented percussionist, highly experienced live and session player, and quite simply…One of the great drummer/percussionists I know. I always have been thrilled to see him using one of my drums. He has appeared on the Today Show, toured extensively, was part of The Mick Fleetwood Band where he & Mick were dual-drumming, has performed live with the Maui Pops Orchestra, has extensive knowledge and performance skills with native Hawaiian music, has been a part of numerous records. and quite simply is someone who always cracks me up. Greg also did some great samples for the Audio Section of this site on the drum. Even Todd Sucherman when I sent them to him said: “Greg was always a wonderful player…”. You can also hear the drum on Van Ghost’s last release: “The Domino Effect” which is a knockout production from start to finish.
Looking forward to seeing you, Jennifer & Tigger soon….
Was great to see that Tommy Harden (Lost Hollow Band, Reba McEntire) made great use of his 1.5 Steel–4 x 15 this last year. He was most recently in Jim Moose Brown’s studio with the drum. He also just started with a 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 14, and I am really, really looking forward to his thoughts on the drum. That drum, of course, is a very different drum. However, the fundamental tone that is in the entire 1.5 Steel Series is there, as in all of them. (Ref: Audio Section in this site). That is something that was very important to me in creating and manufacturing this line. All drums have the designed tone, and all drums in specific sizes sound exactly the same. So, if you hear one of the drums in a particular size that is your sound, that is exactly what you will get. Appreciate it Tommy…Looking forward to your feedback a great deal…
German based drummer Jochen Bauer recently received his 1.5 Steel–8 x 14, and from his correspondence…He simply could not be happier with it. The drum as you might expect has a huge sound with a great Bottom End. But it also offers a wide range of Mids, and is virtually impossible to choke if your looking for the High’s of the drum. This spot gives me another opportunity to say Thank You to Jochen. Absolutely hands down he is one of the most enthusiastic players out there that I have dealt with. Spring time will bring you around to an Eisbrecher show Jochen. I am so looking forward to you meeting Achim Faerber. You will have a great time with him. Looking forward to your updates and to staying in touch~
