The Beier 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14 will be available at Forks Drum Closet starting this weekend. This drum has been extremely well received by the drumming community. It is the go-to live snare for Monte Yoho of The Outlaws & Blackhawk, Andy Parker of UFO, Pat McDonald of The Charlie Daniels Band, Trent Anderson (Tuff, Bang Tango, Dmolls) in his show band Sushi Roll Band, and Achim Faerber in one of his many roles playing with Eisbrecher, Project Pitchfork, Prag, Automat & Peter Heppner. Artimus Pyle is currently rehearsing with the drum and will be starting with it live in December, and Jack Gavin (Tanya Tucker, Rising Sun Studio) has also just started using it in live shows. The drum has been used extensively as well in the studio by numerous players in the industry. Please see my Audio Page for clips of this drum. It retains the traditional sound of all of the 1.5 Steel Series, with added bottom and mid. The 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 15 will arrive at Forks the first week of December as well.
UFO just announced the release date of their always anticipated new record, and tour dates. The new record-“A Conspiracy Of Stars” will be released worldwide on February 23rd. The World Tour in support of this record will start in Barby, Germany on February 20th. Andy Parker is a long time supporter of Beier Drums, has a complete set in Europe and the US, and plays them exclusively live. The newest addition to that is the 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 15, which I am really looking forward to hearing feedback from Andy on. Please see their website for information on picking up the new record, and for all live dates and information…
This is an update to the story this Summer with Quiet Riot headlining the Bang Your Head Tour, and Frankie Banali taking time out to give the Beier 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 15 a whirl live. This was an interesting experiment, as Frankie plays snares that are 6″ or deeper live-Always. The drum went over extremely well, had numerous comments from drummers in the audience, and the entire show that evening was simply a great time. Even Trent Anderson (Tuff, Bang Tango, Dmolls) was there to pick up his 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14. All of these bands are sounding great, and I hope this tour comes around again. Check out the link below for clips from the show. Thanks Again Frankie. I always appreciate your time and counsel. Looking forward to seeing Quiet Riot live again very soon….
Jack Gavin has just started taking his Beier 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14 out for live gigs. This was great news here. Jack is the owner of Rising Sun Studios east of Nashville. He also was the drummer for Charlie Daniels for many years, Tracy Lawrence, and has been with Tanya Tucker since 2003. He is a much sought after session player in Nashville, and has endless experience in live performance with numerous artists. Thanks for taking time out Jack. Will look forward to your feedback. Will be updating this story….
Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame drummer Artimus Pyle just received his Beier 1.5 Steel–6.5 x 14, & I am very happy about it. He will be using the drum live with The Artimus Pyle Band starting 12/4 at their next show. Will update this story as clips and audio come in here. I met Artimus through one of the all-time greats in music, ardent long time supporter of Beier Drums, and all-around great guy-Monte Yoho of The Outlaws. I saw The Artimus Pyle band that day, and they were incredible. Thanks Again Artimus. I appreciate your interest, your communication on the drum, and am looking forward to working with you for a long time to come.
Mark Beckett just sent me this great pic of his kit at The Flamingo on the set of Olivia Newton John’s show “Summer Nights”. The drum is the new Beier 1.5 Steel–4 x 15. It is done in gloss white, and will be a whole new series here at Beier Drums. The drum has a huge range, and not only just for a piccolo. The Mid/Bottom range is amazing, and the projection and tone were exactly what I had hoped for in this drum. The specs and concept were Mark’s, and I am really thrilled to see it in live use. Thank You Mark….
I was fortunate enough to see Dennis Diken perform twice in the last month: Once with The Smithereens, and the second time on Dave Davies solo tour. Both times Dennis used the Beier 1.5 Steel–5.5 x 14 live, and he also has been using it in shows with The Smithereens. I was introduced to him by Brad Elvis. He is a super nice guy, and he also is a spectacular drummer. There are a number of new clips on my You Tube Channel of his solo, and songs live with The Smithereens and Dave Davies. Thanks Again Dennis….Looking forward to seeing The Smithereens live soon~
